Below is a a copy of the new Indonesian Law on visa free countries signed by President Jokowi on 2 March 2016.
Other countries
Visitors from Pakistan and some other countries are not included in this list. Other countries need to apply for a visa in advance of travelling to Indonesia. To apply for a visa please visit the nearest Indonesian Embassy.
This is a link to Indonesian Embassy in Islamabad for Pakistan visitors.
You can also get the help from a visa agent to apply for a visa. Please contact our friends at Visa For Bali.
This free visa is for 30 days only and cannot be extended. You can enter and exit Indonesia on a free visa through 29 airports and 88 harbours and 7 land crossings.
Find out which airports and harbours can process free visa arrivals and departures.
The purpose of increasing the lost of free visa countries was to boost the number of foreign visitors to Indonesia. This increase will then create new job opportunities.
According to Rizal the original extra 45 countries (added on 10 June 2015) had at that time already created a 15% growth in tourist arrivals.
These Indonesia free visa countries are chosen on a set of strict government criteria.
“Countries that are known to have issues with drugs, economic stability, and radicalism are not eligible” said Rizal.
Director General of Immigration Ronny Sompie said that they will add immigration counters at the airports specifically for visa-free visitors.
Video of press release;
The above was released in a meeting on Tuesday, 1 September 2015. This meeting was attended by the Director General of Immigration Ronny Sompie, the Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya, Major General Erfi Triassunu, Representatives of the Police and Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

I am from Nepal, I can enter with a visa up to 30 days. I am planning to stay more than a month, should I apply for visa on arrival for more than 30 days or I can just extend it later?
There are only 67 countries that can pay for the USD 35 Visa On Arrival that can be extended once while in Indonesia. Unfortunately, Nepal is not one of these 67 countries. Therefore, as a Nepal passport holder you can only get the free 30 day Visa On Arrival that is NOT extendable. If you need to be in Indonesia for longer than 30 days then you can either (a) apply for a 60 day tourist visa at your nearest Indonesian Embassy before travelling or (b) enter Indonesia on a free 30 day visa, leave the country for 1 day and return on a second 30 day free visa. You can find the 67 VOA countries on this page under Chapter #3: http://www.topbali.com/indonesia-visa/

I am from Nepal and was planning for holiday at Indonesia, probably 3 months from now.
Should i consult with the Embassy/consulate from my country before taking the trip for visa related matters or should i fly directly so as to obtain the free visa of 30 days. Should there be any problem flying directly and getting a 30 days visa on arrival?
Thank you for the response.

Hi Ketut,
I will be travelling to Bali from Australia however I am an Indian citizen. I am quite certain that I will be provided with Visa on Arrival. My plan is to visit Denpasar from Australia then spend 6 days in Bali and go to India from there, I will be spending 15 days in India and then travel back to bali on the same visa and leave the Denpasar, Indonesia on the same day.
Do you think, the same visa will allow two entries whereas the second entry is more as a transit. Will you be able to provide some information on this?
These visas are single entry. Every time you enter Indonesia you will get a new 30 day free visa.
Hi, i am maribeth from philipine,

How to apply for free Visa?
Or should I directly go to the Indonesian airport and they will give me the visa over there?
Do I need to do anything in India or I just need to go straightly to Indonesia immigration for free Visa?

Hi Ketut,
I am currently in Indonesia and I’ve got a 30 days visa free from Italian nationality.
My flight is schedule to 5th of July which will make 33 days of stay. Can you please advise me of my options and will happen if I overstay for 3 days. thanks
The official overstay penalty is Rp 300,000 per day you exceed the maximum 30 days. This penalty will need to be paid at the immigration office in the airport.
I’m from the United Kingdom. How long do I have to leave Indonesia before I can re-enter again on the free visa scheme?
Theoretically speaking you just need to leave the country for 1 second and can then re-enter. Basically what that means is there is no legally minimum time requirement between visits. Often visitors will leave Indonesia in the morning and return to Indonesia in the afternoon/evening. If you are on a tourist visa then the immigration officers may ask you why you return the same day as these kind of “visa runs” are occasionally also done by visitors who work here illegally (you are not allowed to work on a tourist visa). If you have valid reasons to do a “visa run” then you should have no problems. If you do these visa runs several times over again then the immigration officers will start to wonder what you are doing.
Hello i am from Algeria and i need to stay 40 days in Indonesia what should i do
You have 2 options. Either you visit your nearest Indonesian Embassy and apply for a 60 day tourist visa before travelling. Otherwise you can also enter Indonesia on the USD 35 Visa On Arrival as this visa allows you to extend 1 time by another 30 days while in Indonesia (the extension will cost you another USD 35 and take about 5 working days). If you choose the extendable USD 35 Visa On Arrival then you need to visit the Visa payment counter before you pass the Immigration counter.
I am an Angolan citizen and would like to visit Bali for 15 days. As i understand, a visa will be issued to me at the airport, am i correct?
